Manuscript
postmark on 1899 2¢ carmine (#U8) entire to Chicago, Ill.,
reverse with
"Calamba, Laguna, P.I., Oct 13, 1902" and Manila transit cds's.
Described
as "a very rare manuscript postmark" to which I will not agree. Perhaps
scarce or very scarce but not rare. I will consider a manuscript postmark
rare if it is of the pre cds period.
My logical
explanation for this cover to have a manuscript cancel instead of the regular
CABUYAO CDS is its the last minute hand over to the Cabuyao PO mail clerk
who was tasked in bringing the mail to the Calamba PO. Interesting but
not worth the estimate.
